Although our team strives to help all family needs, we do not make any guarantees of availability, if a child is sick, especially if the sickness is contagious. We try our very best to limit exposure and the spread of sickness and therefore appreciate communication, upfront, prior to a shift, if your child is sick. We also want to respect our sitters, as some sitters may have an autoimmune deficiency or other reasons of why they cannot care for sick children.

We have only recently begun allowing sitters to accept jobs with sick children if they feel comfortable and with the agreed-upon surcharge of $45 one time, paid directly to the sitter (we take 0% of their pay, whatsoever).

A child is considered sick if they have:

  • Unusual fatigue, irritability, or anything outside the standard routine that prevents typical play and interaction
  • Any low- or high-grade fever
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
  • Any symptoms that may put sitters at risk of illness or expose other families
  • Contagious conditions such as strep throat, conjunctivitis (pink eye), flu, hand-foot-mouth disease, or other viral infections
  • A persistent or lingering cough, sore throat, continuous runny nose, or breathing difficulties

If your child is experiencing any of the above, please notify both us and your sitter as soon as possible. This helps keep everyone safe, healthy, and comfortable, including your family, the sitter, and the other families and children they support.

Thank you for your understandings & help with communication!
